Zimbabwean musician Greatman recently made a heartfelt appeal on Facebook, posting a picture of Sir Wicknell Chivayo and humorously / jokingly asking his followers if they could help him receive a Fortuner, just like others have been gifted.
The post, which read, “Afternoon friends and family, itai picture iri risvike 10k muone kuti avandipewo Fortuner here zvavarikuita vamwe ” (translated as, “Afternoon friends and family, let’s make this picture hit 10k to see if they will give me a Fortuner like others ”), quickly went viral, garnering over 19k likes.
Zimbabweans Respond with Playful Teasing
Many Zimbabweans responded, playfully teasing Greatman, suggesting that he might get a car from Sir Wicknell despite having once been gifted a wheelchair by UK-based entrepreneur Olinda Chapel. They joked about how Greatman had asked Sir Wicknell for the wheelchair, and now, people are wondering if the entrepreneur might gift him the car instead. Some even joked, “If you get the Fortuner, I’ll delete my Facebook account!”
Gratitude for the Love and Support
Despite the playful teasing, Greatman’s post reflected his gratitude for the love and support he’s received. In another post, he shared a photo outside Victor’s Car Dealership, a place famously linked with Sir Wicknell’s mantra, “Go and see Victor,” whenever he’s giving away a car. The Fortuner Hope: Can Sir Wicknell Help?
